‘Bognor Regis in Bloom’ needs Passionate people!
Bognor Regis in Bloom Working Party is a group of people who co-ordinate activities and projects in the town that help to enhance the area horticulturally and environmentally.
The annual Bognor Regis in Bloom competition is a chance to encourage pride and community spirit within the town and each year is launched in the spring, with an awards presentation event for the gardening competition in early autumn. There are categories to fit every garden, frontage, neighbourhood, hanging basket/flower tub for businesses and residents alike.
Other projects include community planting schemes such as the flowerbeds at the seafront mounds, volunteer work in the award winning Hotham Park, or beach/community clean up events. Additionally, the group tries to raise awareness of ‘green’ issues wherever possible by encouraging more environmentally friendly ways of gardening and lifestyles.
Local people of all ages have been working hard to create cleaner, safer and more beautiful spaces within Bognor Regis helping the town to consistently achieve Silver or Silver-Gilt awards and we have been category winners of the regional South and South East in Bloom competition three times.
The town has a thriving garden competition, but we would love to see Bognor Regis winning Gold in the regional South and Southeast in Bloom competition in the next few years!
Now the working party is calling on those from the community who have a real passion to brighten dull corners around town to step forward and lend their support for the entry into this regional competition.
We believe all sectors of the community need to be represented, from local traders, allotment holders and the retired to those ‘people’s-people’ who just seem to know everyone – not just those with green fingers! We are keen to encourage new members to the Working Party to help us with fresh ideas and enthusiasm. The group meets roughly monthly to discuss projects and ideas that could add to our portfolio and enhance the town.
